Many people are asking, what is the best way to treat peripheral neuropathy and will light therapy help?
It really depends a lot upon what type of laser or light therapy device you are using. Healing damaged peripheral nerves can be an ongoing issue that may be best addressed with a large scanner type of light therapy device, rather than a small pinpoint type of laser. Since the periphery can encompass a lot of surface area, sometimes a wide area treatment option is preferable.
The red wavelength around 650nm is optimal for healing the nerves and the infrared wavelength of 810nm to 850nm is ideal for alleviating the pain and initiating photobiomodulation or PBM for short. When these wavelengths are combined in a single device, they work well to support pain relief, nerve damage regeneration, increased blood circulation to the peripheral capillaries and more. However, long term, addressing the issue also has to do with diet, lifestyle and exercise.
My favorite light therapy device for supporting the body to deal with peripheral neuropathy is something that is relatively new to the scene. In the past I had very little faith in LED devices. However, a class 4 laser manufacturer along with a team of Doctors have developed a therapy device with super high OPTICAL power LED’s in both Red and Infrared that put’s out equivalent amounts of photons to lasers that cost in the $10k to $30k range for a mere fraction of the price. I’m talking about a true 10 Watts to 20 Watts of optical power, with 3 models to choose from. The surface area coverage of the LZR UltraBright therapy units is 10-20 times more than many expensive lasers. They received FDA clearance as a class II light therapy device, which means it is super safe, no license or prescription is need to get one, and you don’t have to wear glasses. Unlike most cold laser systems, this device warms the tissue, delivers a ton of photons, utilizes two of the best wavelengths and works at lightning speeds of 30-60 seconds per large area of 7″ x 4″ at a time. Or simply scan it up and down and all around the body parts and extremities, treat the bottom and top of your foot in 30-60 seconds, same with your hands and so much more.
